At the 2022 Beijing Culture Forum held from July 25 to 26, experts and industry insiders shared the new trends and prospects of cultural innovation.

Wan Jie, chairman of Artron Art Group, said the company is going to join hands with the Beijing Fine Art Academy to launch a digital exhibition of the art work of Chinese painter Qi Baishi (1864-1957) in Italy, this November.

Focusing on art data collection, the company has built a database for the works of nearly 500,000 artists, and committed to building digital archives for about 15,000 art galleries, museums and art institutions including the Palace Museum in Beijing and the Potala Palace in Lhasa, capital city of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

Chen Yanshun, chairman of BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd., said at the forum that traditional industries like radio and television have achieved transformation and upgrading with the help of digital technology. New cultural formats such as online literature, online live broadcasts, short videos have developed rapidly.

The digital media has combined cultural content with digital technology to become an important part of the cultural industry. According to the forum's sources, the new cultural formats in Beijing, such as digital publishing, and the manufacturing sector of wearable intelligent cultural devices, achieved a total revenue of over 1 trillion yuan (about 148.3 billion U.S. dollars) in 2021, an increase of 22.6 percent year on year.

From January to November 2021, there were 1,105 culture and technology enterprises in Beijing, with revenues totalling 776 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.1 percent.

"On Baidu Maps, through augmented reality (AR) technology, the fountain ruins in the Old Summer Palace, also known as Yuanmingyuan Park, was 'reconstructed,' allowing tourists to see the virtual images of its original scenery on their mobile phones," said Wu Tian, vice president of Baidu Group.

Jin Wei, vice mayor of Beijing, said the municipal government has supported culture and technology enterprises. It has built 98 municipal-level cultural industrial parks, such as the 798 Art District and Star Park. Science and technology has taken on the role of empowering culture and promoting cultural industries.
